Music / Drama:
Music: Welcome to Safari Land Music.
Music builds self-esteem and allows children to express themselves imaginatively. Skills such as cooperation, group participation and listening are naturally developed through music. The music program revolves around our camp theme Safari-land and all our jungle animals. Each group has their own special song and every week new songs and activities are introduced based on our theme of the week. Every Friday all the jungle animals gather to have a camp wide concert, which is theme related. Children have the opportunity to develop self-esteem while participating in group songs and actions. All of the music programs are geared to each individual age group with the objective of learning music skills through fun, interactive, game oriented songs.
Drama: JUST IMAGINE!!!!
There is no greater power than a child's imagination! At Hillcrest Camp, we use drama to provide a voice to children and develop their confidence in order to let their individual abilities shine. Children will learn basic drama skills and techniques, ranging from story theatre to moving to different types of emotions to miming and tableaux. To celebrate the children's new learned skills, a final play will be created as the camp session concludes. This is a stepping stone to becoming first class actors!
Drumming with Ora from Living Rhythm:
Make Your Heart Go Boom!
This 30 minute program is offers interactive rhythm-based activities and fun for all campers. The campers enjoy a rhythmical safari-journey each week, with sounds, rhythms, beats, stories and songs. Each week we build on their skills and make sure fun is had by all! Through listening, teamwork and celebrating individual contribution, the children will make rhythm with …
- their body parts, exploring awareness and connecting rhythm to their bodies
-shakers, experiencing movement and songs together
- drums,( and other percussion instruments) connecting to their heart beat and the power of rhythm
We look forward to making rhythm together for Summer 2015!
