Camp Programs

Hillcrest Camp offers a wide variety of structured activities to engage your child, while enjoying a camp experience specifically designed for children ages 2.5 - 5yrs.

Here is a full list of our activities:

Sports

Dash Sports:

This summer, Coach Adam from Dash Sports will be visiting Hillcrest once a week! DASH is a sports program that will introduce 2-6 year olds to a variety of sport skills both team and individual. DASH will lay the foundation for success in sports by developing fundamental skills and the basic movements such as running, jumping, throwing, catching, passing, etc. Campers will learn the fundamentals of eight different sports...basketball, baseball, soccer, floor hockey, tennis, golf, volleyball and football. As well, campers will take part in fun games, warm-ups, stretches, skills and drills all in a non-competitive, safe and nurturing environment!

Gymnastics:

During the course of the summer, campers will undertake a lifestyle exercise program modeled through gymnastics practice. Programs will be available to campers that will incorporate strength, flexibility, speed, balance, coordination, power and discipline through age and ability appropriate activities. Campers will learn cognitive skills that include the body and the mind and will encourage them to become active throughout their lives. Campers will learn a range of movements and technical positions that will grow and develop as they progress through the session. A unique variety of techniques and equipment will be used ranging from hula hoops to inclined mats and skipping ropes.

Swimming:

Our swim program is enjoyed by all campers. We hire only experienced and qualified NLS certified swim instructors, who understand the needs of the young child. Our focus is to ensure that each child feels secure and comfortable in the water. We use the Red Cross Preschool and Swim kids program. With dedicated teachers and individualized instruction we are committed to the highest standard instruction in a small comforting environment. The pool is heated to a comfortable temperature in order to allow the children to make a smooth transition into the water. The children divide their time between the shallow water-play area, and the main pool. They are only taken into the main pool in arms, on a one-to-one basis with a staff member. Individual progress is monitored and reports are issued at the end of each session. Children enrolled in half-day programs swim once daily for one half-hour, while full-day groups swim twice daily for one half-hour each period. In addition to our certified swim staff, all counsellors from your child's group will also be in the pool area to ensure the best supervision possible.
